IBS Diet – Foods to Include in Your Meal Plan

Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS as we know it has no known cause. More often than not, it is the result of our irregular activities or our intake of something that does not agree with us. Who knows? But here are some tips that may help alleviate your IBS.

  1.  Steer clear of foods loaded with fat. Fat makes you feel bloated and make it difficult for you to digest your food.
  2.  If changing your lifestyle to become a vegetarian is near to impossible for you, try to, at least, add several servings of vegetables in your diet. The fiber in the veggies will help your bowels calm down and relieve that constant discomfort.
  3.  Try to find ways of replacing red meat in your diet with fish, poultry or vegetables. For example, a burger can be made with quinoa instead of beef – with the same tastiness but with so much more nutritional values and its good for you. Even your whole family might go crazy over it.

So there you see, IBS is not such a bad thing. You can get over it but you have to make a commitment to changing the way you eat, your lifestyle and sticking to the changes so that the condition does not return. It also helps to encourage your family to take on the healthier lifestyle so that you don’t feel like you’re left alone on this journey. And be positive about the changes! Negativity will NOT help at all.
